Canoa is approximately 160km (2hrs by car) south east of Fortaleza, the capital of Ceara state, where the nearest international airport is.

Aracati, 20km away is the local administrative centre and has the nearest bus station.

Further south and east in the neighbouring state of Rio Grande do Norte is Natal (4-5hrs by car), which also has an international airport.
